Editor & Publisher: Cartoonist Writes Sci-Fi Book Called 'The Last of the Funnies'

Editor & Publisher (E&P) Logo

My new science fiction book on the funnies received a mention on the respected Editor & Publisher website yesterday:

Here's a little snippet:

Canadian cartoonist and multimedia designer Mike Cope has authored a "sci-fi novelette" with newspaper comic elements.

"The Last of the Funnies" is set in a future time when "newspapers have ceased production and nearly every form of art and entertainment is a digital simulation."

One thing the book wrestles with is the issue of digital copyrights in a virtually paperless world. Cope also pays homage to characters, people, and organizations tied to comics -- including The Yellow Kid, Rube Goldberg, Joseph Pulitzer, William Randolph Hearst, and the National Cartoonists Society (NCS) ...

Special thanks to David Astor and the E&P Staff.

Stay TOONed!

- Mike

  1. Great press, Mike!

Though it's a little ironic (and sad) that E&P recently fired their "funnies" senior editor.
